Child Friendly Pubs in Edinburgh - Hic
It's finally come down to this. 11 days after L.Muck left for Ireland I find myself researching child friendly pubs. Pubs where I dont have to tie the kids up at the door to a lampost but can actually bring them in as well. Normally I would head for Dirty Dicks on Rose street, but tonight I fancied a change...
And so I headed to Deacon Brodies Tavern which is located at 435 Lawnmarket (right on the Royal Mile). Thinking ahead, (as I really wanted a quiet pint of Cider), I purchased the children a couple of educational books, Scottish murders being one of them. Lovely tales including the cannibal 'Bean family' and other bedtime stories which I knew would keep them amused, and it did. Im getting a little concerned at the homemade-from-nintendo-cable trip wires Im finding 'planted' at the top of the staircase this evening though and I may take the books back.
The restaurant is located upstairs and there's certainly a lot on the menu to choose from. Sadly the cider does not come in half pints and I had to drink an entire bottle of Magners, waste not want not. Food was good, service excellent and pricing average.
Not much of a pub crawl really. 1 pub, but it's a start. However, by the time my holiday is finished I should have quite a nice child friendly pub crawl map. To have one mailed to you, please enclose a stamp addressed envelope with cheque for £1.50 and mail to me, c/o Edinburgh Correctional Facility for Bad Parenting.
Our family ceilidh was last weekend in Kilmarnock, what a fabulous time. L.Muck is now a respectable married lady. When she comes back to the blog after her honeymoon she'll be writing special sections on knitting, crochet, cooking and ironing. Now, I happen to have a book before me titled 'A handbook of Husband and Wife according to the Law of Scotland'. Why I buy such books I dont know, but for L.Mucks better half sake I'd just like to mention something..
Intoxication - If one of the parties at the time of the marriage be in such a state of intoxication as to be incapable of exercising reason the marriage may be annulled on the ground of want of consent.
And for the attention of L.Muck -
A wife has no immunity against penalties for breach of the law, and must suffer the legal consequences of her acts. For her delicts and quasi-delicts her husband is not responsible.

As I wrote this I received a text message from Ireland to say that the happy couple have found a mid-strength Bulmers, only 2.3%, I'll be able to drink twice as much they say. What a nerve.
